Shavington-cum-Gresty Heritage Group

Are you passionate about local history?
Do you have an interest in tracking and documenting the rich heritage of Shavington-cum-Gresty?
Community members are invited to be founding members of the newly forming Shavington-cum-Gresty Heritage Group.

Group Goals & Activities
The Shavington-cum-Gresty Heritage Group will be linked to the Shavington-cum-Gresty Parish Council strategy theme, Celebrating Our Heritage. Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Supporting Historical Events. Actively support significant public and civic events with historical importance.
  • Documenting Parish history. Ensure the history of Shavington-cum-Gresty is documented and available for everyone to access.
  • Creating Walking Paths & Trails
    Team up with partners to create more walking paths and trails, opening up access to the heritage of our parish.
  • Access to Listed Buildings Register. Ensure everyone can easily access and contribute to the Listed Buildings, register and the Local list.
  • Caring for the War Memorial. Take care of the village War Memorial.
  • Respecting Unique Character. Use the planning process to ensure that new buildings respect the unique character of the parish and explore the advantages of implementing a Parish Design Guide.
  • Expanding Arts & Cultural Events. Expand the variety of arts and cultural events to highlight the talents of our residents and cultivate community interest.
  • Promoting Social Values. Collaborate with partners to promote the Parish and its social values, aligning with our commitment to celebrate our heritage.
  • Quarterly Meetings. The group will meet quarterly to discuss progress, plan upcoming activities, and ensure goals are being met.

All meeting are held at Shavington-cum-Gresty Village Hall

*Wednesday 30 April 2025 – 7pm – John Hulse, The Butchers shop
